3 tips on how to deal with anxiety To start off this post I just want to say that I am in no way an expert on mental health or anything to do with it. I'm making this post as I have recently discovered that I probably have anxiety, I have decided to come up with 3 tips that I use nearly daily to help me, in the hopes that it might help someone else going through the same thing. 1. Breathe -  breathing is one of the simplest and quickest way to help with anxiety. If you start to feel anxious breath in deeply for five seconds then breathe out for six seconds, doing this for 30 seconds or more increases the supply of oxygen to the brain, stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system, ultimatly creating a state of calmness. You could even do some deep breathing for 20-30 minutes daily to reduce daily stress and anxiety. 2. Meditation -  My school is currently doing a meditation session at lunch, I have found that this has really helped me stay calm and reduce my anxiety in a

What It's like going to high school in Australia

What it's like going to high school in Australia As you all may know I am from Australia and am currently in my last year of high school, studying Visual arts - Design, Photography, English and Business and Enterprise. I have noticed over the months that my views have been coming from a variety of countries, from America to Peru, I thought this was really cool. this gave me the idea of creating a post giving an insight as to what a high school is like in Australia and to share my experience with a variety of people from a variety of different countries. The School Year - In Australia, the school year starts at the end of January and goes through till halfway through December. a school year consists of 3 holiday periods and 4 terms which generally contain 10 weeks of school. the year will start at the end of January and go through until the middle of April (first term), we then get a two week holiday from school. The next term (term 2) starts at the end of April/start of May

If I tell you book review

If I tell you by Alicia Tuckerman If I tell you is a book set in Australia, about a girl named Alex Summers who is dealing with being gay. The story follows Alex in her perspective discovering her sexuality in a town that is filled woith homophobic people. As the story progresses Alex meets a girl named Phoenix Stone and her life is changed forever. I really liked this book! The characters were well developed, the imagery used was good and the book flowed all throughout. In some parts of the book, I felt it went a bit quicker or it was easy to tell what was going to happen next, but overall it was really good. this book was very emotional, not only did Alex have to deal with ridicule from the town she also at times got it from her family. it saddened me to discover what it can be like for some people that are having trouble coming out. this is one of the first books I have ever cried while reading, it definitely brought out a lot of emotions which i loved The ending was the sadde

The Cruel Prince Book Review

The Cruel Prince by Holly Black So I just finished reading The Cruel Prince by Holly Black. To be honest it was ok, I had previously heard a bit of the hype going around but never read anything about it. To start it was a good book. I loved the writing and characters. The writing was pretty good, it was easy to read and follow. There were a couple of points throughout the book where I felt that the sentances weren't making sense ( in mt mind) but that was probably just me. The characters were also pretty good, I like the relationships and conflict between them it made me want to read and never stop. The problem I have with the characters is their characterisation, there wasn't much of it.  I felt as if I was in a way suppose to already know the characters, they were described well and everything but there wasn't much described them as a character such as their backstory, attitudes, emotions etc. This made it hard for me to follow along with the book and the characters

How to create a double exposure photograph

Double Exposure What is double exposure? – Double exposure is the effect of overlapping two photographs and making them one. It is generally created with a person or animal’s headshot and some sort of landscape or close up image of a plant. The double exposure effect makes the photograph seem misty as it fades out and is generally a black and white colour scheme, with the sometimes appearance of colour.  How to edit a double exposure photograph - To create a double exposure, you first want to start with finding the right images, you want to use images that are simple and not too complicates. For the headshot you want an image that doesn’t have a whole lot of detail in the actual head or background. For the landscape you want something that is simple and matches the aesthetic of the headshot, trees are a good option. The next thing you want to do is cut out the headshot from the background. To do this you use the quick selection brush to select the headshot and use the

I hate everyone but you book review

--- Just a quick note, I know I said I was going to read the books that I currently have before buying new books, but I was at the shops and saw this book and was immediately intrigued, so I decided to get it and read it :) --- I hate everyone but you By Gaby Dunn & Allison Raskin I hate everyone but you is a book about two friends, Eva and Gen, that have been best friends since they were young, the story follows their lives through email as they both go through college on opposite sides of the country. The blurb explains that the storyline covers topics such as mental health, coming out, relationships and self-discovery. I was pretty excited for this book as I had never read anything like it before, based on the format, of the emails and the mental health and coming out topics. I didn't read any reviews before reading this book so had no idea what to expect. The start of the book was really good, the plot was forming well and the flow of the story was going well. Ther
